Think of it as a spell checker. Using the ribbon in word was super convenient, and having the panel docked to the right of the document that scrolls. I have used grammarly throughout uni and it has been totally fine and i haven't been penalised for it!

In the age of ai and ai catchers, grad students like me are wary of online tools. It catches small errors i might miss, suggests better word choices, and even helps with the overall.
Using it as a spelling/grammar checker shouldn't count though. Hello, i’m a student at college and currently in the first year of my degree. All grammarly does is assist/guide, i.e., help make it less wordy, which is unacceptable in academic. Usually, 10% of your uni mark will.
I think grammarly has some ai writing tools (like actually write for you) would probably count as ai use.
